Alcaraz’s words ahead of Cincinnati

Number 4 in the world Carlos Alcaraz believes there is an expectation on him to perform well in the Cincinnati Masters, but he is up for the task.

Alcaraz is currently a top-5 player and the overwhelming favorite to win the tournament wherever he goes. Alcaraz, who won four titles in the first five months of the season, hasn't won since Madrid, although appearing in two finals afterward.

After winning his second Masters title in Madrid, the pressure increased and it has affected Alcaraz. “Right now, I take each match as a challenge for me to stay the same as always. I am No. 4 in the world, one of the favourites to win this tournament, so it is a bit tough to handle the pressure.

But I am training at my best. I am training with the objective to improve and try to produce the game I produced during the clay season and in Miami. It is a challenge for me to be the same,” Alcaraz said ahead of his Cincinnati campaign, per the ATP website.

On the other side, Rafael Nadal can get to world number one if he performs well at Cincinnati. Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Major champion, might become world number one after Cincinnati. If Rafa wins in Cincinnati and Daniil Medvedev fails to make the quarter-finals, Rafa will be crowned as ATP champion for the first time since February 2020.
