Frances Tiafoe warns Rafael Nadal he is coming for victory

Frances Tiafoe is not lacking any confidence ahead of his US Open last-16 match as he absolutely believes that he can beat Rafael Nadal. On Saturday, Tiafoe defeated Diego Schwartzman 7-6 (7) 6-4 6-4 to progress into the US Open last-16.

Next up for Tiafoe will be a third career meeting versus Nadal. Going into the match, Nadal owns a 2-0 head-to-head versus Tiafoe. In 2019, Nadal defeated Tiafoe at the Australian Open and Madrid Masters. "Yeah [don't really have to study videos of Rafa], I mean, you've seen him so much.

I've seen him growing up. I've played against him, practiced against him. You know what he's going to do. Sometimes it's too good what he does. But I'm ready. I mean, I'm excited. I'm excited. We're going to play on Ashe.

Yeah, the best court in tennis. I'll be ready to give my best stuff," Tiafoe said.

Tiafoe: I can beat Nadal

"“Now I believe I can beat him - I’m definitely going to come after him. I think for everybody is his intensity.

Match his intensity from the first point to the last. You can't really have any dips. He takes advantage of it. How good his forehand is, right? Once he gets ahold of his forehand, it's tough to get him out of that pattern.

I'm just going to have to be really aggressive and try to make him play to me, not me play to him," Tiafoe explained. Tiafoe, 24, has been through to the US Open last-16 for the third year in a row. In the last two years, Tiafoe exited the US Open in the last-16.

Now, a difficult task is ahead of Tiafoe, who is hoping to reach the US Open quarterfinal for the first time in his career. In his previous two matches versus Nadal, Tiafoe didn't win a single set. It remains to be seen if Tiafoe can beat Nadal for the first time.
