Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are named top 2 seeds at US Open

Tennis: Seedings have been announced for Men's Singles event at 2013 US Open and world no.1 Novak Djokovic is the top seed, whereas Rafael Nadal of Spain is the second seed. Rafael Nadal will be a second seed at a Grand Slam for the first time since 2012 Wimbledon.

He had stayed out of Tennis court for moe than 7 months after 2012 Wimbledon and had dropped down to world no.5 ranking. He was seeded fifth at 2013 French Open and 2013 Wimbledon. Novak Djokovic has been a steady presence in the final weekend of the US Open since 2007, reaching the semifinals or better each of the last six years, four times appearing in the men’s singles final.

If the 2011 champion lives up to his seeding, he’ll be there again in 2013. Djokovic is the No. 1 seed on the men’s side for the 2013 US Open, earning top billing for the second time in three years and he is best priced at 7/4 with sportingbet to win his 2nd title at Flushing Meadows.

Rafael Nadal, who moved up to No. 2 in the world on the heels of back-to-back titles the last two weeks at the Emirates Airline US Open Series events in Montreal and Cincinnati, has earned the No. 2 seed. Defending US Open champion Andy Murray will be seeded third, followed by No.

4 David Ferrer and No. 5 Tomas Berdych. Juan Martin del Potro, the 2009 champion, is No. 6. Last year’s top seed and five-time men’s singles champion Roger Federer is seeded seventh, his lowest seeding at the US Open since 2002, when he was No.

13. This is the 13th consecutive year Federer has been seeded at the US Open, a mark that ties him with Pete Sampras for third-longest among men in the Open era, trailing only Jimmy Connors (18, 1972-89) and Ivan Lendl (14, 1980-93).

The top-seeded American player is John Isner, at No. 13. Isner’s compatriot Sam Querrey will be seeded 26th. The US Open seeds follow the ATP World Tour rankings as of Monday, Aug. 19. The 2013 US Open men’s seeds are as follows: Novak Djokovic, Serbia
