Patrick Mouratoglou warns Rafael Nadal cannot be ruled out of RG title contention

Patrick Mouratoglou thinks Rafael Nadal absolutely has to be mentioned as a French Open favorite considering the fact that the Spaniard is "almost unbeatable" when he reaches the second week at Roland Garros. Nadal has yet to officially kick off his clay season as he has been sidelined since January due to an injury suffered to his psoas muscle.

After missing Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid, Nadal is hoping to make his long-awaited comeback in Rome. Then, Nadal plans to go to Paris, where he will try to win a record 15th French Open title. Nadal is without any doubt in a very tricky and challenging situation but Mouratoglou underlines the Spaniard can never be ruled out at Roland Garros.

Mouratoglou warns Nadal cannot be underestimated

"Nobody has done what he has done on clay, nobody has ever done what he has done at Roland Garros. This has been his tournament for so long now. We know that round after round, match after match, he's building his tennis and he's building his physical strength.

When he reaches the second week of the tournament, he's not unbeatable because nobody is, but Nadal is close to that. So even if he hasn't played any tournaments leading up to Roland Garros, I still believe he has to be considered as one of the favorites.

There is a favourite which will be Rafa, there is a second favourite which will be Novak Djokovic and there is a third favourite which will be Carlos Alcaraz," Mouratoglou said in a video uploaded on his Instagram.

Last year, Nadal was dealing with a foot issue just before the start of the French Open.

Still, Nadal was able to win a record 14th French Open after playing under anesthesia and anti-inflammatories for two weeks straight. It remains to be seen if Nadal can pull off another stunning French Open win this year.
