Iga Swiatek addresses if she could replicate Rafael Nadal French Open record

Iga Swiatek suggests it is still way too early to talk about her potentially replicating Rafael Nadal's astonishing French Open success. Swiatek, who turned 21 just 10 days ago, became a Grand Slam champion at the 2020 French Open.

Last year, Swiatek captured her second title at Roland Garros. This year, Swiatek has been through to another French Open final. If Swiatek beats Karolina Muchova in the French Open final, she will have three French Open titles by the age of 21.

Meanwhile, Swiatek's idol Rafael Nadal is a record 14-time French Open champion.

“Well, I wouldn't say that kind of motivation, it's my style, you know. I'm more of a person who just try to do her best every day and hope for the best.

I just try to compete, you know, keep it cool year by year and just do everything step by step. So, I wasn't really thinking that. But, no, like Rafa, what he did and what he's still doing, it's pretty amazing. I never kind of knew that it's gonna be possible for me.

So, it was totally out of my reach, if I can say that. And, you know, still he played so well so many years, I don't know if it's going to be possible for me," Swiatek said, per Sportskeeda. Earlier this year, Swiatek suffered some surprising losses.

But at the French Open, Swiatek is delivering. After beating Beatriz Haddad Maia to progress into the French Open final, Swiatek revealed her mindset. "I'm working on having an approach of continue to win and not defend. I don't want to be passive as No.

1. I'm happy to be here. I don't know whether relief is a good feeling although I do feel it a little," Swiatek said.
