Rafael Nadal appeared training on an incline treadmill in a recent video that surfaced on social media. During the video, we can spot uncle Toni Nadal surveilling his training.

Many tennis fans didn't like Nadal's fitness level, as proved in the video. Here are some of the reactions:
  • "Does it look to me as if Rafa has put on weight?"
  • "Does not look healthy at all"
  • "Incline (treadmill) is a killer"
  • "He’s not running okay…"
  • "He looks gassed!!"
Nonetheless, Rafael Nadal just came back from holidays, so a poorer fitness level is normal.

Nadal to make a comeback in 2024

Rafael Nadal has a few months of training to get ready for the 2024 season, which should be his last year as a professional tennis player. "I'd like to fight again for important goals, but my physique doesn't agree.

I have to look ahead, fortunately there are so many beautiful things in my everyday life. You can't always ask too much of the body, he's the one who told me stop. Now I stop to think about the future. I don't know what will happen, I can't control everything.

I am a positive person and I will try to be competitive again. I don't want a 2024 appearance, I would like to go on the pitch and win. I want to take the time to recover and get back to the highest level possible. I won't give a return date, when I'm ready mentally and physically I'll be back.

One goal could be to go back to playing the Davis Cup and start 2024 well, with the guarantee of being able to be competitive. Maybe 2024 will be the last year on the court," Nadal said in a press conference.
