Rafael Nadal shared in his latest update that his recovery routine includes swimming. Nadal, 37, underwent surgery on his psoas muscle injury in early June. After going on vacation and taking some time off, Nadal has started rehabbing and working out in the gym.

In his latest Instagram post, Nadal revealed that he has also been doing some work in swimming pools lately. The next step for Nadal is to get back on the court and start practicing again. "Working," Nadal captioned his Instagram post.

Nadal said his recovery was estimated at five months

After failing to recover in time for the French Open, Nadal decided to surgically address his psoas muscle issue.

On June 3rd - the day Nadal celebrated his 37th birthday - he announced that his surgery went well a day earlier and that his recovery was estimated at five months. "Hello everyone. As you know last night I had surgery. Everything went well and the arthroscopy was on the left psoas tendon that has kept me out of competition since January.

An old injury to the labrum of my left hip was also regularized, which will surely help the better evolution of the tendon. I want to thank doctors Marc Philippon, Jaume Vilaró and Angel Ruiz-Cotorro for their work. I will start progressive functional rehabilitation immediately and the normal recovery process they tell me is 5 months, if all goes well.

Once again thank you for all the support you have shown me and that you show me every day. Today also on my birthday. Not in the desired or dreamed place, although THANK YOU anyway," Nadal announced on June 3rd. If everything goes well, the hope is that Nadal will be able to start the 2024 season in time and compete at the Australian Open.

In May, Nadal said his intention was to retire healthy and competitive in 2024. However, some believe Nadal may decide to continue his career if he returns healthy and manages to stay that way over a longer period of time.
