Boris Becker expects to see Rafael Nadal at his best at two notable events in Paris next year. The German expects to see the Spaniard at his best at Roland Garros and the Olympic Games, having enough time to prepare for the clay season.

Nadal will extend his tennis career in 2024, recovering from a severe hip injury and preparing to compete again in Brisbane in a couple of weeks. Nadal skipped almost an entire 2023, embracing the most extended break of his career and starting from the beginning, entering Brisbane ranked outside the top-600 for the first time since 2002!

Rafa has played only 13 matches since August 2022, struggling with injuries and experiencing a tremendous blow at the beginning of 2023. Rafa injured his left hip in the Australian Open second round against Mackenzie McDonald, undergoing surgery in June and missing the rest of the year.

Nadal will try to recover his game as soon as possible, eager to play his best tennis again by the clay swing. As always, the king of clay will focus on Roland Garros and the Olympic Games, keen to extend his Parisian dominance.

Boris Becker backs Rafael Nadal to play at his best in Paris.

Nadal debuted at Roland Garros in 2005, winning the title at 19 and kicking off the most dominant run at a single Major in tennis history. Rafa has won 14 Roland Garros titles, experiencing three losses and hoping for another good run in six months.

Nadal skipped this year's edition, staying away from Paris for the first time since 2004. Rafa's most recent triumph at his beloved event came in 2022. The king of clay dethroned Novak Djokovic in the quarter-final before beating Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud en route to his 22nd Major title.

Nadal could not play on clay in 2023, revealing a Grade 2 iliopsoas and undergoing arthroscopic surgery in June, ending the season and jeopardizing his career. After a proper rest, Nadal started practicing again, combining his training sessions with the gym and shaping his form and body.

Feeling improvements, Rafa signed up to play in Brisbane at the beginning of 2024, eager to prolong his tennis journey and chase titles again. "I would never bet against Rafael Nadal on a tennis court. He is tremendously strong, winning many titles and gathering colossal experience.

Rafa is among the best players of all time. If he believes he can chase notable titles and play at a high level again, we must believe him. I'm 100% sure in that. I'm convinced Rafa will not travel to Australia with the highest expectations; his goals must be clay-court related, focusing on Roland Garros and the Olympic Games," Boris Becker said.
