Andrey Rublev thinks Rafael Nadal could also potentially prolong Novak Djokovic's career if he starts winning Grand Slams again in his return. In the first week of the new season in Brisbane, 22-time Grand Slam champion Nadal will be making his long-awaited comeback.

While Nadal was sidelined, Djokovic won three Grand Slams this year and became the first male player ever with 24 Grand Slams. “I’m not surprised because I think he and Novak, those kind of players who are playing to leave a mark in the history of tennis; while Novak is still playing I think Rafa will try until the end to play and try to win slams.

And the same goes for Novak. If Rafael Nadal keeps playing and winning when he comes back, Novak Djokovic will keep playing until the end. They are playing for different things," Rublev said at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi.

In November, Nadal took to his social media to reveal that he was preparing to announce big news. At the time, the general belief was that Nadal was preparing to announce his comeback.

When Djokovic was asked about Nadal preparing for a comeback in 2024, the Serb wished the Spaniard all the best and insisted he would like to play his biggest rival at least one more time. “For the world of tennis, no doubt that it’s amazing news that he’ll be back.

I think it would be nice for the sport to have at least one more match between Nadal and me. That’s the biggest rivalry in terms of the amount of matches played that this sport ever had. Hopefully that can happen. He’s a big warrior.

He’s somebody that really never gives up. With all the injuries that he had, keeps going. That’s definitely something that you have to respect and admire about him and his spirit," Djokovic said of Nadal's return in November.
