Rafael Nadal probably played against Alexander Zverev his last match at Roland Garros - considered as a Grand Slam tournament - of his career. Although the Spanish tennis player has left the door open for 2025, what seems more likely is that Nadal will play once again on the courts of Roland Garros in just under two months when the Olympics will be held in Paris.

After playing the tournaments in Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros, what will Nadal's plans be for the next few weeks after his early elimination in Paris? When will he return to the court? From the statements of the Spanish tennis player it seems highly unlikely that he will go to play on grass.

In all likelihood Nadal will continue to train on clay to prepare for the Olympic event. And there is a project in the works: the doubles to be played in Paris together with Carlos Alcaraz. Nadal has already won Olympic gold in singles in Beijing in 2008 and in doubles in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro with Marc Lopez.

Nadal should skip Wimbledon

Rafael Nadal has been seen practising on clay at his academy in Manacor with his eyes set on the Paris Olympic Games, which will be played at the Roland Garros facilities and will take place in a month and a half. It remains to be seen whether he will play any previous tournaments on clay before competing in the Olympics.

Almost certainly Nadal will not play the third Slam of the year at Wimbledon and will skip the entire grass season, which kicks off Monday, June 10, until Sunday, July 14, when the Wimbledon men's final will be held in London.

As a reminder, the Olympic tournament in Paris will be held from Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, August 4. The Nadal-Alcaraz duo would form a certainly competitive pair with even realistic chances of hitting a medal.

One question remains: where to test the pair in a tournament before the Olympic event? If Alcaraz were to go a long way again this year at Wimbledon the whole thing would be greatly complicated. If Nadal-Alcaraz wanted to play a tournament before the Olympic event the possibilities could be in the week of July 14-21: the Atp 500 in Hamburg or the 250 in Switzerland in Gstaad or the 250 in Sweden in Bastad where Jannik Sinner will also be there.

The week after, July 22-27, preceding the week of the Olympic tournament, the Atp 250s in Umag and Kitzbuhel are on the calendar on European clay. Of course if Nadal were to call, either alone or together with Alcaraz, the doors would open wide in each of these tournaments.
