Rafael Nadal out of the ATP World Tour finals in London? The World No.3, who recently revealed how he will plan on competing at the ATP indoor tournament of Basel, seems ready to withdraw from the most important tournament to be played at the end of the season: the year-end championships at the O2 Arena of London.
How is it possible? It seems the Spaniard has already decided on his participation at the ATP finals, ready to leave his spot available for someone else to be taken. It would be the fourth time in his career that the 9-time French Open champion decides to skip the year-end championships, always suffering from different kinds of injuries.
Currently is a form of appendicitis bothering Nadal since Shanghai, where the Spaniard was ousted by compatriot Feliciano Lopez in straight sets in his debut match. The news came from Spanish broadcaster IB3, always very informative on Nadal's decisions and future developments, which presented a 3-minute film that excludes any chances for the former World No.1 to be competing in London in November.
According to the TV program, Nadal will play in Basel and Paris Bercy, before flying back to Spain to undergo surgery for its appendicitis and end his 2014 slightly in advance. Nadal's plan would be to have the time off necessary to recover from the surgery and be fully ready to start the 2015 season with the tournament of Doha.
