Rafael Nadal undergoes a successful surgery. Will be released from hospital in 24-48 hours

Tennis: Former World No.1 and 14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has successfully gone through surgery and his appendicitis has been removed. Nadal is expected to stay in the hospital for the next 24-48 hours and then he will be given a green signal from the hospital to go home.

The Spaniard was looking in high spirits before the operation, as he had posted his photo on Facebook, before the operation. He had also thanked his fans for all the support and the messages. There is also a chance that Nadal will speak to the media when he leaves the hospital.

According to Nadal's spokesperson, it could be at 1:30 pm GMT that Nadal will come out and speak to the media. If everything goes according to the plan, Nadal is expected to be back at the beginning of the next year and he could play the ATP event in Doha, where he would be the defending champion.

If everything goes according to the plan, Nadal is expected to be back at the beginning of the next year and he could play the ATP event in Doha, where he would be the defending champion. However tennis betting suggests that there may be a new winner of the title next year.

The 28-year-old would want to have some rest, get fit and have a better 2015, as he remained injured in most of the 2014. Apart of winning the 2014 French Open, Nadal could not win much because of blisters, back problems, wrist problems and appendix.
