World number 46 Robin Haase seemed to be in good spirits after a second-round loss suffered on Wednesday at Roland Garros Well-known clay-court specialist Rafa Nadal handed a three-sets defeat to the Dutchman 6-1 6-4 6-3.
Overall, the Spaniard had no many problems on his way to setting up a third-round clash with 24-year-old Nikoloz Basilashvili. ''At the beginning, I was way better...then the warm-up ended,'' Haase said post-game.
Haase reached round two on the clay of Paris after out-gunning promising Alex de Minaur in his opening match at the event. The 30-year-old didn't stand much of the chance in his following clash. Haase didn't have a notable clay-court season, having achieved his best result in Budapest -- the last-16 stage.
He bowed out twice in the second round at Monte Carlo and Madrid before doing the same in Paris. It remains to be seen will the upcoming grass season bring more luck to the player from Netherlands.
