Francis Roig: 'Nadal wishes to head to ATP Finals better than ever'

In an interview to Onda Cero, coach Francis Roig analyzed Rafael Nadal's China Open win over Nick Kyrgios in Beijing. 'Rafa had a great week playing at a very high tennis level,' Roig recognized.

'Despite the result, the match was hard and there were complicated moments. He showed Kyrgios that if he wanted to win he needed to make a big effort. Rafa was consistent and played very well. For him every title is special.' How important is the goal of winning a first title at the World Tour Finals in London? 'He knows that in order to play well at the ATP Finals, he needs to do well in the tournaments before.

Also winning in Beijing gives the chance to play even better in Shanghai. We wish to head to ATP Finals better than ever, and we want to put the icing on the cake by achieving the year-end no. 1 as well.' Roig, who has accompanied Nadal this week in Shanghai, also said, 'Rafa loves sport, tennis.

He likes what he does. He still sees himself able to do great things and he is willing to win.' ALSO READ: Nadal: 'In 2005 I never thought that in 2017 I would be playing tennis' .
