Bernard Tomic to play the Rafa Nadal Open in late August

The players' entry list for the first edition of the Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell has been revealed. The Challenger event will be played on hard courts at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar from 26th August to 2nd September 2018, during the first week of the US Open.

Players coming from 13 countries will fight to win a title named after the world no. 1. Many Spaniards will be there, including the former world no. 32 Pablo Andujar, who came back to compete at a good level this year winning the Alicante Challenger and his fourth ATP career-title in Marrakech defeating Kyle Edmund in the final.

One of the main attractions will be Bernard Tomic. The Australian player is ranked 150th, but he achieved a career-high at no. 17 in 2016 and will try to win his third career Challenger title. This year so far on the ATP Tour, Tomic achieved his best results during the grass-court season, reaching 's-Hertogenbosch semifinals and Wimbledon second round.

Unsurprisingly, the 19-year-old Casper Ruud will also be playing the event. The Norwegian recently signed a deal to practice at the Nadal Academy, last year he reached ATP 500 Rio Open semi-finals and this year ATP 250 Bastad quarter-finals.

He also competed in this year's Australian Open and French Open main draw after overcoming qualies. In Paris, he reached the second round. The Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky, Ilya Ivashka, Ramkumar Ramanathan and the Italians Thomas Fabbiano (who defeated Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon last month), Luca Vanni and Stefano Travaglia will play.
