The 1996 Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez came back on the WTA Tour as Karolina Pliskova's coach. In an exclusive interview with Tennis World USA, the Spaniard spoke about the goals she set with the Czech: "Being consistent with her game and trying to do the best possible in all the tournaments and playing being aggressive.
In the beginning, it was a few-week agreement and then she felt well little by little and asked me to coach her in the French Open and on grass too. Working with her is easy, she likes improving all the possible things and that motivates me", said Pliskova.
Then she spoke about the WTA Tour featuring no dominant players: "There are a lot of players who play well and who are competitive, but I think they could be more consistent." She also made two predictions: "Serena Williams will beat Margaret Court's Majors record, I think, while Rafael Nadal is the favourite in the French Open.
The chances for him to win are high in the best of five sets." What experience has been to live Nadal's energy in the Davis Cup as a captain? "Not only with Rafa but with all the players who have played the Davis Cup, I like to learn a lot and coach the men."
