'Borg's six French Open titles seemed not normal, then Nadal came'

In an interview to El Pais, Rafael Nadal's coach Carlos Moya commented on the 32-year-old's 12 French Open titles. Moya said: "When I played, Guga Kuerten's record seemed unbelievable, and the six of Bjorn Borg were seen as something out of the world...

But then reaching 12 is something you cannot compare. You see him from the inside and so you may put less importance on it, but seeing it from outside, your perspective changes." Nadal himself said: "You just have to make an effort, train on a regular basis for several weeks in a world.

I think we can easily forget what I have been going through since the end of 2017. It has been a long and complicated time, and at the same time very good in terms of tennis and very difficult in terms of injuries. All this recovery work was difficult to accept mentally. I was tired of consecutive injuries."
