Alexander Zverev: 'Rafael Nadal does not give you a point in practice'

In an interview, Alexander Zverev spoke about the training session he had with Rafael Nadal at the Rogers Cup in Montreal on Friday. The German player said they played a match but he did not want to reveal the final result.

"In practice, Rafa is always like that, we played a full match, he does not give you a point and it is the best practice you can have," said Zverev, who lost to Nadal in 2016 Indian Wells, 2017 Australian Open, 2017 Monte Carlo, 2018 Davis Cup and 2018 Rome.

Zverev feels confident as he won the 2017 title in the Canadian city. "Two years ago, I played my best tennis, I felt better and better match by match and I eventually ended up holding the trophy. This is the place where I only played one time and I never lost so hopefully it stays this way later on this year and we will see how it goes."

Meanwhile, Milos Raonic also feels confident as he knows how to go far in this event. "There have been a lot of great moments here. I played the 2013 final which allowed me to crack the top ten for the first time. I played some of my best tennis here," said the 2016 Wimbledon finalist.

Raonic commented on his opening-round match against the Frenchman Lucas Pouille. "It’s going to be tough," admitted the former world no. 3 and 2016 Wimbledon finalist, who lost to Pouille earlier this year in the Australian Open.

"He bested me quite handily this year in Australia. I have to hopefully find a good level of tennis and keep a good physical condition."
