Rogers Cup finals will be played on Sunday. At 4:00 PM in Montreal Rafael Nadal will face Daniil Medvedev for the first time in career. The Spaniard seeks his fifth title in the tournament overall, he is the defending champion and winning this match would guarantee him to defend the 1,000 points he earned the previous year beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
Medvedev seeks his fifth career-title, he is playing his second final in a row after losing to Nick Kyrgios in last week's Washington. Medvedev is eighth on the ATP live rankings but he would go up to No. 7 by winning the title.
In Toronto at 1:30 PM Serena Williams will try to win her fourth Rogers Cup title. She always triumphed in this event always in Toronto and never in Montreal. The American will face the Canadian hero Bianca Andreescu who defeated Sofia Kenin in the semifinals.
Andreescu did not expect to go so far: "I'm definitely surprising myself", she admitted. "I don't realize the things I can do on the court. My coach is always telling me that I'm a champion within. But I guess -- I don't know.
Maybe I am starting to realize that slowly. But at this point, I don't want to take anything for granted. I mean, there's going to be weeks where you're going to lose. And right now I'm doing pretty well, so hopefully I can keep the momentum going for the rest of the season like that."
