Rafael Nadal previewed his upcoming match against Diego Schwartzman in the US Open quarter-finals. The world No. 2 said: "Diego is playing unbelievable. He is one of the most talented players on our Tour, he has everything, amazing control, amazing speed.
He can hit shots very well and understand the game very well. I know that people can think Zverev was the favorite before that match, honestly for me, today, Schwartzman is the favorite. I saw him playing a couple of matches in this tournament and he was playing great.
Sascha had issues, fought as hard as he could, he will be a Grand Slam champion soon but Diego is playing great. I need to play my best in the next round to have a chance to be in the semi-finals. But the match of today I think helps."
Analyzing his win over Marin Cilic, the Mallorcan added: "For some moments in the second set I felt there were too many points in his hands. He was pushing me back and playing more aggressive than me. I was way back on the return and he was with the right determination to go inside the court.
After the second set i had to make a change or I would be in his hands. I started to return the second serve inside the court and that gave me a different perspective in points." On Twitter Cilic wrote: "It was a great week in New York, sad to have it end. Congrats to Rafa on the incredible playing and win. Thank you US Open. See you next year NYC!"
