Rafael Nadal is motivated to get closer to Roger Federer, says Croft

Speaking on Amazon Prime the British presenter Annabel Croft spoke about the upcoming US Open semifinals match between Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini. Croft said: “I am going to go with Nadal to come through that one because I think he has way more experience.

And of course, there is so much hunger and motivation to close down that gap to Roger Federer. But he has got a little bit of a niggling injury”. Croft added: “In the other one I am going to go with Medvedev. The confidence he has had coming through the summer hard court season, winning in Cincinnati and beating Novak Djokovic.

But he has played a lot of tennis. I don’t know what his energy levels are. Who knows, Grigor Dimitrov has surprised everybody. Nobody would have predicted him to get through to the semis. But it is great to see him playing great tennis again, 18-year-old Rafael Nadal, who was absorbing the worst beating of a Grand Slam career that is now in its 17th year."

Jose Luis Clerc commented on the upcoming US Open semifinals match between Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini. Clerc said: "What a nice player you have, what a serve. And what a body. I saw him several times in this year's US Open.

With the explosive shots he has, Matteo should find courage to keep forward, I rarely see him from the half of the court, winning the point at the net would bring him easier points than just hitting strong from the back of the court.

On serve he should not be afraid to hit strong on Rafa's forehand. It will be very hard but never say never in tennis."
