Usually, after a Grand Slam title, on Monday Rafael Nadal gives interviews to Spanish media. It happened this year in Paris, but it did not happen in New York. Just after winning his fourth US Open title on Sunday night, Nadal attended press duties and after that he and his family travelled back to Europe to enjoy some rest in Porto Cristo, Mallorca.
And so, barely 15 hours after his win over Daniil Medvedev, Nadal shared on Instagram a photo featuring him enjoying some relax near the sea from his home. Carlos Moya said: "It was a very emotional match. I could not be calm any time.
Rafa, at times, played the best level of the tournament. Against a player who he knew what was able of, the rocket he is." Francis Roig said: "Honestly, the best Rafa was seen in the fourth and fifth set. He realized how difficult it was and so he played at his best.
He started hitting hard especially on the forehand and he faced a wall. Those are matches that can change history. We already went through this kind of matches and today we had to win." On Nadal's tears, Roig added: "The excitement comes from how the match went.
Since when Federer and Djokovic lost, he was seen as the favorite, there was a lot if pressure and in the end it got complicated. You get happy for winning and you end up thinking that you could not lose this match. Medvedev barely lost this summer and increased his level more and more. We saw the void but he once again showed the great competitor he is. It was an epic match."
