I will not force Rafael Nadal to play 2020 Mallorca Open, says uncle Toni

The men's professional tour will be back to Mallorca in June 2020 for the first time in 18 years. Feliciano Lopez was the first player who committed to play while Rafael Nadal's appearance is up in the air. "It will depend on the decision that his coach (Carlos Moya) and himself take", said the Tournament Director Toni Nadal.

The organizers said some of the best players in the world will play. Night session matches will be played and the final will take place on Saturday so that players have more time to prepare for Wimbledon. The singles draw will feature 28 players and the doubles draw will feature 16 duos.

It will be one of the five grass-courts ATP 250s on the calendar besides Stuttgart, s’Hertogenbosch, Eastbourne and Newport que llevarán la categoría ATP 250 en hierba. Mallorca hosted a WTA tournament over the last four years.

"This experience will be very useful to organize the men's ATP 250", said Toni. "In order to prepare Wimbledon, the Mallorca tournament is ideal. Players will have the chance to train here in good facilities, with a good weather, and that's good too.

But I will not make pressure on my nephew to play." Lopez said it's a dream to play an ATP event in Mallorca. "I know those courts because four years ago I played an exhibition match with Carlos Moya. Grass is one of my favorite surfaces and having the third professional tournament in Spain, with Madrid and Barcelona, is a great luck."
