Davis Cup Tournament Director Albert Costa commented on the men's event that will take place in Madrid next month. Costa believes that the Spanish team, featuring Rafael Nadal, will have many chances. "There are chances to win Davis Cup, many chances because Spain has a great team even if everything will be very balanced.
There are very strong countries, some of them will head there with a good rhythm, but playing at home gives a boost to Spain. If Spain goes through the groups' stage there will be more excitement and passion in the tournament.
All in Kosmos team are calm knowing that we are doing things well. When the moment will get closer, we will have butterflies but we will organize a great event. The first year is always tougher, but we will definitely have a great competition."
On the controversies happening in Catalunya that forced to postpone the soccer match between Barcelona and Real Madrid until October 26, Costa added: "The situation is pretty uncomfortable. I hope it gets solved as soon as possible."
Spanish tennis federation chief Miguel Diaz said: "We had a very complicated draw with Russian, that has very good players, and Croatia, the defending champions, but we have a big amount of players with an unbelievable level.
The proof is that over the last years we always ended with 10 or 11 players in the top 100 and there are very few countries who achieve it. I think if we go through the groups' stage we can qualify."
