'If Nadal, Djokovic play Davis Cup seriously, it's tough for other teams'

Speaking to TennisNet Nikoloz Basilashvili's coach Jan De Witt spoke about the new Davis Cup format. De Witt has some doubts about it. "If Djokovic and Nadal play well and they play seriously, it will be very difficult for all the other teams.

However, I tend to say that everything is possible because nobody will be well prepared. Why shouldn't our guys win there? Everything is possible", he said. On Andy Murray winning last week's European Open in Antwerp, De Witt added: "I think it's good because Andy is good at tennis.

I always liked playing Andy. It always intrigued me because Andy really cares about the game. It's incredible how he can increase his performance level with his health issues. And I am happy for him because I know how much he loves the game.

Who knows how long it will last. Nobody, Andy and his doctor either, knows it." Is there a match he would like to play again as a coach? "I do not have such things. I am not a human being that regrets the chances he missed.

I am looking forward to it. I would like to have a healthier 2020 year, more consistent with less ups and downs. So we have no reason to cry for the matches. We had many bad matches and we had nothing to lose. But there is nothing amazing here", concluded De Witt.
