World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, Russian tennis superstar Daniil Medvedev and world No. 13 Kei Nishikori have signed up to play at the Barcelona Open next year, per Michal Samulski. Nadal, who has claimed a record of 11 titles in Barcelona, will be making his 16th main draw appearance on the clay courts of Barcelona next year.
This past season, the 33-year-old Spaniard failed to win it all in Barcelona for the fourth year in a row as he was beaten in the semifinals by Austrian clay-court specialist Dominic Thiem. Meanwhile, Medvedev will be making his second appearance in Barcelona, while Nishikori is due to appear on the clay courts of Barcelona for the ninth time in his career.
Medvedev, 23, fell just short of having a dream debut at the Barcelona Open earlier this year as he ended runner-up in the final to Thiem. On the other side, Nishikori has also had deep runs in Barcelona, having made three finals and claimed two titles in those three final appearances.
