In an interview to Tyc Sports the Argentinean player Diego Schwartzman spoke about his country's team losing to Spain in the Davis Cup quarter-finals last month in Madrid. Schwartzman was beaten by Rafael Nadal in a straight-set match.
Speaking on Thursday after attending a press conference organized by the Argentina Open, Schwartzman said: "I got away from the Davis Cup with a very bad feeling. I was touched although we were close." On the qualifiers against Colombia in March 2020, Schwartzman added: "It will be tough, they will play at home and if they pick Bogota or another venue with a high altitude, there will be complications.
But it's still a few months away." On his goals for the next season, he said: "Now during the first months of the year, I will not be far away from the high ranked players, if it goes well, because I do not have to defend many points.
I have to do a good pre-season to start well and get closer to the top ten." On the Buenos Aires tournament, Schwartzman concluded: "I love it the most. All of us are very motivates playing at home and people who usually cannot come to see you during the year, comes. It's like the Davis Cup."
