Russia's Karen Khachanov was impressed with the way Rafael Nadal performed in their Mubadala World Tennis Championship clash. Khachanov, ranked at No. 17 in the world, stood no chance against world No. 1 Nadal. The Spaniard put up a dominant performance as he won 6-3 6-1 to make his sixth final at the Abu Dhabi exhibition.
"That was a good masterclass. Rafa needs to tell me how much I need to pay him," Khachanov said after the match, per Ricky Dimon. The turning point of the match appeared to be the third game of the first set when Nadal saved three break points.
The two split the first two games, before Nadal won seven games in a row to take a comfortable 6-1 2-0 lead. However, Khachanov refused to quit but that didn't lead to a comeback as he failed to realize a break point in the seventh game.
In the following game, the Russian dropped his serve for the fourth time and lost the match. Khachanov will be battling against world No. 2 Novak Djokovic for the third place finish.
