World no. 1 Rafael Nadal and Banco Santander have signed a long-term agreement, becoming an ambassador of the Group. In the last couple of years, Rafa was involved with Banesco and the partnership has been raised to a higher level now as he will represent the bank in various campaigns and events in Spain and worldwide, as well as Santander Private Banking ion global terms.
One of the greatest players of all time is still at the top of his game at the age of 33, finishing 2019 season as the year-end no. 1 player for the fifth time and adding more records to his already impressive tally. After winning two Masters 1000 titles in Rome and Montreal, Nadal currently stands on the top-tier 35, also claiming the 12th Roland Garros crown to become the only player with that many trophies at a single Major.
After signing a contract with Santander, Nadal will kick off the season at the ATP Cup, leading Spain in the quest for another notable team title after conquering the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid in November. Ana Botin, Banco Santander Group Executive Chairman, said: "Nadal is coming home.
He is one of the best athletes in the world and the best Spanish athlete in history, but he also has something that for me is the most important thing: he has got values that we share at Santander." Rafa Nadal said: "I'm thrilled to come back to the Santander family and become its ambassador.
It is fascinating to share again their winning spirit and the values of daily effort and willingness to fight for every point to achieve the goals we set. And, of course, to show that how we achieve our goals is as important as reaching them."
