2002 Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson has said that world No. 1 Rafael Nadal and second-ranked Novak Djokovic are his top favorites to win it all at Melbourne Park this year. Nadal, a 19-time Grand Slam champion, has won only Australian Open title so far in his career as he beat record 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the 2009 final to lift his maiden and lone title at Melbourne Park.
Djokovic, 32, has enjoyed lots of success throughout his career at the Australian Open, having won a total of seven titles in his 15 appearances at Melbourne Park. Both Nadal and Djokovic performed extremely well at the Australian Open last year but when they met in the final there was only player as the Serb dominated the Spaniard in three sets to win title.
"Absolutely," Johansson told Sport Klub when asked if Djokovic was the favorite to win the Australian Open. "He is the favorite. I think he and Rafa are the main contenders for the title but there are players who could make it tough for them."
