KTF President: Rafa Nadal Academy vital for the advancement of tennis in Kuwait

Kuwait Tennis Federation (KTF) President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah says that the Rafa Nadal Academy is vital for the advancement of tennis in Kuwait, in an interview with Kuna. Ahmad Al-Jaber commented that this academy will enable local talent to emerge in tennis, as well as help produce upcoming generations of champions in Kuwait and Nadal himself will be on hand for the inauguration of the academy at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex.

Nadal will play an exhibition match with fellow Spaniard David Ferrer for the inauguration of the academy, which will help with training participants and players for both men and women, in addition to training national teams in collaboration with KTF, and under the supervision of highly experienced coaches in the game.

KTF will organize local championships throughout the year in cooperation with the Academy to provide experiences that benefit the national team. The complex includes 18 tennis courts, nine of which are indoor, as the indoor main stadium accommodates 5,000 spectators, while the main outdoor stadium accommodates 1,500.

It also has a hotel which consists of 300 rooms and special facilities for tennis. The Complex will host its first tournament, the 3rd Gulf Sports Games next April. During a press conference for the academy, Rafael Nadal gave a video message, saying, "I'm personally very happy to open the Academy in Kuwait.

We're working hard to create the right programs for the kids and our members, making for strong development of tennis all over the region. See you very soon." Meanwhile Toni Nadal, who has been the former coach of Rafael Nadal, has said that the Academy in Spain has trained tennis experts from across the world in the finest technical and ethical skills.

Nuno Marques, the highly experienced coach at the Academy, who will be the Head of Tennis at the Academy in Kuwait said that his ultimate aim is to produce a future Kuwaiti tennis champion.
