Rafael Nadal misses being in Paris: Today we should be there

World No. 2 Rafael Nadal and tennis legend Rod Laver took to social media to express their disappointment at not being in Paris for the French Open, which would have begun this week as per the original tennis calendar of the season.

12 time champion Rafael Nadal posted a picture on Saturday evening of himself in Paris five years ago, attending a gala event for his foundation. "Already 5 years ago in Paris ..Today we should be there ..." Laver, who won the French Open in 1962 and 1969, commented, "Missing the rich red clay of @rolandgarros - which would have started today.

Last year was so special, meeting dear friends and celebrating champions new and old. Here’s to the good times, which will return as strongly as a Nadal backhand!" There were others who also spoke about missing being at the French Open.

American teenager Coco Gauff wrote "I miss being in Paris." It would have marked the first time that she would have played the main draw in singles at the clay court Grand Slam. Australian Darren Cahill, the coach of former champion Simona Halep, commented, "Like a kick in the guts my calendar alert just reminded me that @rolandgarros was scheduled to begin today, One of the great events in one of the great cities.

Hope to see you in Sep/Oct." The French Tennis Federation is hopeful of staging the tournament later this year in September.

Hace ya 5 años en París...

Hoy tendríamos que estar ahí... šŸ˜¢ Queda el gran recuerdo de esa noche šŸ˜˜
