Stan Wawrinka: Rafael Nadal's RG record one of greatest achievements in all sports

Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka is impressed by the record world No. 2 Rafael Nadal has at the French Open. Nadal, 34, claimed a record 13th title at Roland Garros after besting world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets in this year's French Open final.

"What [Rafael Nadal] is achieving so far in the French Open is one of the greatest achievements of any sports probably, winning 13 time [the] French Open," Wawrinka said of Nadal claiming a record 13th title at Roland Garros, per Max Gao.

"The way he is doing it, it's something amazing. I had the chance to play him there [twice] at the French Open, always got killed, so I know how difficult it is to play him there."

Wawrinka enjoys watching Nadal, Djokovic and Roger Federer

Nadal also tied Federer on the all-time Grand Slam record list as each now have 20 Majors captured.

Djokovic, who has said several times this year his goal is to the break all-time Grand Slam record, has 17 Grand Slams in his collection. "And I think it's always difficult to compare [the Big Three], especially those amazing athletes, especially that they are still playing, so we don't know [who the greatest of all time is right now]," Wawrinka said of the greatest of all-time race.

"I think we will have to wait and see. I think we have to more enjoy that they are still playing, they are still doing something amazing for our sport in general, and that's something that I like to watch. I like to watch them play and as long as they will play, I will enjoy that."

Meanwhile, Wawrinka was happy with his round-of-16 performance at the St. Petersburg Open. Wawrinka, seeded at No. 5, beat Russian Evgeny Donskoy 6-1 3-6 6-3 to make the quarterfinal in St. Petersburg. "I think, again, it was a great match.

A tough opponent but my level was better from the beginning. I played a good first set and I’m happy to keep winning here. A great atmosphere, a great sort of people here tonight and happy to play a QF [next]," Wawrinka said of beating Donskoy.

"I think in the second [Donskoy] started to play a bit more aggressive, he was dictating a bit more the game and I think the level in general was great from both sides. I’m happy to get through. I think I played a really solid match tonight and I’m happy”.
