Rafael Nadal Academy prodigy reaches world number 2. Nadal is thrilled

Rafa Nadal Academy’s prodigy, Alexandra Eala, climbed to junior world number 2 after reaching the girls’ semifinals at the 2020 edition of Roland Garros earlier this month. The promising 15-year-old Alexandra received praise from the now 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal soon after she achieved this feat.

“Vamosssss. Very happy for you and keep up the hard work and great results,” Nadal tweeted.

Eala was born in the Philippines and has been training at the Rafael Nadal Academy center.

She was the no.2 seed in this year’s Girls’ French Open edition and went to reach the semifinals of the Grand Slam after defeating the likes of Hungarian Natalia Szabanin (6/4, 6/1), German Mara Guth (6/1, 5/7, 6/4), Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz (6/1, 4/6, 6/1), and Czech Linda Noskova (4/6, 6/3, 6/2).

Alexandra Eala bowed down to 3rd seeded French Elsa Jacquemot losing 3/6, 2/6. Nevertheless, the Filipino girl is one of the most promising ascending tennis stars and seems to be having a great future ahead of her. “Number 2 of the ITF Tennis Junior Ranking!

Congratulations Alex Eala! Everyone at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar is very proud of you! What a great achievement. Let’s keep going and working hard!”, Rafa Nadal Academy tweeted after hearing the 15-year-old’s achievement.

It’s worth noting that Alex Eala won the Australian Open doubles title in January this year.

Rafael Nadal trained with Alex Eala’s brother Miko

As we previously reported, in August Rafael Nadal has been seen training with Miko Eala, Alexandra’s younger sister.

Miko is 18 years old. Philippine tennis player Miko Eala had the chance of a lifetime as he got to hit with tennis legend Rafael Nadal at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy in Spain where he and his sister, Alex, have been training.

Eala shared a post on his Facebook page where he shared the excitement about getting a chance to play with the now 20-time Grand Slam winner. Miko Eala posted a video of his session with the tennis legend in which he says, "HUUUUGE day for me yesterday as I got to hit with Rafa Nadal!

If you listen closely you can hear me grunting haha…” See the video here.
