Daniil Medvedev: I think I'm feeling like Rafael Nadal after 2019 AO final

Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev have recognition to Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer after losing the Australian Open final. Medvedev, who was aiming to lift his maiden Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park, stood no chance against world No.

1 Djokovic as the Serb won 7-5 6-2 6-2. "I rank Novak in the Top 3 of the toughest opponents I had. I played the Big Three, but when they're in the zone, they are just best tennis players compared to all the rest of us," Medvedev said, per Tennis Majors.

In the 2019 Australian Open final, Nadal stood no chance against Djokovic as the Serb easily claimed a straight-set win. "I think I'm feeling like Rafa after 2019 final," Medvedev said.

Medvedev acknowledges the greatness of the Big 3

Djokovic now has 18 Grand Slam titles while Nadal and Federer remain at 20 Majors captured.

"What they did in tennis is unbelievable for me. I'm 25. If I want to win 9 AusOpens, I have to win it every year til I'm 34. I believe in me but I don't think I'm able to do that," Medvedev said. The whole grass season was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"So long for me that we didn't play grass in 2020. I thought that, as a Top 10, I could have done well. On clay courts, I had great results in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona," Medvedev said. Surprisingly, Medvedev has never won a match at the French Open.

"The bigger goal of the year is to win a match in Roland-Garros," Medvedev said. Medvedev acknowledged that Djokovic dominated the Australian Open final. "I should have done better things for sure, aces, forehand winners.

But again, he was a better tennis player today. It's disappointing for me but that's the way it is," Medvedev said.
