WTA Rankings: Ashleigh Barty leads ahead of Karolina Pliskova and Simona Halep

With the Fed Cup Qualifiers and no WTA tournaments in the week behind us, the updated WTA ranking list has stayed where it was a week ago, with no changes in the top-100. Ashleigh Barty is still the leader of the pack, having more than 2200 points lead ahead of Simona Halep after winning the title in Adelaide and reaching the semi-final at the Australian Open.

Ashleigh will skip Dubai next week due to a foot injury, needing more time to recover following a challenging run at home in January. Another Australian Open semi-finalist Simona Halep will be in action next week, skipping the Fed Cup Qualifiers and gathering energy for Dubai where she lost in the quarter-final a year ago.

The Romanian is 800 points clear of Karolina Pliskova who couldn't match her last year's result in Melbourne, losing ground a little bit to the players ahead of her and hoping for a better result in Dubai. World no.

4 Elina Svitolina has won only two matches so far in 2020, suffering a loss to Anett Kontaveit in the fed Cup and seeking stronger performance in Dubai where she grabbed a wild card after forgetting to sign in time. Belinda Bencic helped Switzerland reaching the Fed Cup Finals, beating Gabriela Dabrowski and losing to the young gun Leylah Fernandez who delivered the only point for Canada in the tie.

Bianca Andreescu was in Biel but couldn't help Canada to fight for the overall win, still struggling with a knee injury she suffered at the WTA Finals last year, staying only ten points behind Belinda Bencic on the list.

The Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin led the USA against Latvia in the Fed Cup Qualifiers, beating Anastasija Sevastova before losing to Jelena Ostapenko, stepping in to deliver the decisive third point in the doubles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Kiki Bertens, Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka complete the top-10 group, with the Japanese experiencing a terrible loss to Sara Sorribes Tormo in Cartagena on clay. We have to go outside the top-100 to see the first changes on the list, with Shelby Rogers gaining 24 places following the ITF $100,000 title in Midland. WTA Ranking list
