Roger Federer turned 40 a couple of weeks ago, and his coeval Serena Williams will enter the club in September. Two tennis legends have been widely recognized as the greatest players of the Open era. Roger and Serena have shown mutual respect and admiration ever since their early days on the Tour, winning numerous notable titles together while forging their ways towards tennis immortals.

In May, Serena asked for a wild card at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma, seeking form ahead of Roland Garros. In the opening match, the 23-time Major winner took down the 17-year-old Lisa Pigato 6-3, 6-2 in 68 minutes, getting broken once and delivering four breaks to control the scoreboard and march into the next round.

Asked about Roger Federer, Serena did not miss a chance to honor her favorite player, calling him a genius and the most outstanding player you simply have to like. Born within two months in the summer of 1981, Federer and Williams have become the most recognized tennis names of the previous two decades, winning 43 Major titles combined and earning numerous records.

Dealing with injuries, Serena and Roger had to skip the upcoming US Open, hoping for a better run in 2022.

The American and the Swiss shared the court in a competitive match once at the Hopman Cup 2019 when Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic toppled Frances Tiafoe and Serena Williams 4-2, 4-3 in swift 46 minutes.

The Swiss pair served great in the opening set, breaking Tiafoe in the fifth game after Bencic's return winner and taking the set after Federer's hold at love a few minutes later. Roger and Belinda saved a break chance in the second set's fourth game.

They won the tie break 5-3 after Federer's superb volley, celebrating another fine performance in the ultimate clash of two tennis giants who had a fantastic time on the court. "I think two words sum it up: Roger Federer.

He's just a synopsis of greatness, class, amazing, and really changed the game. You see players performing like him, moving like him, doing his techniques. The guy is a genius. I just feel like he is really the greatest player.

Just look at him. You can not say anything wrong about him; that's how I feel. His game is so fantastic. If I could only play like him!" Serena Williams said.
