'I try to copy Roger Federer a little bit', says young ATP star

The recently concluded Tokyo Olympics produced sensational tennis. In women's singles, Switzerland's Belinda Bencic defied all odds to claim the coveted gold medal. At the beginning of the tournament, not many would have predicted what happened.

However, Bencic showed some swashbuckling strokes to go all the way. Along the way, she received a lot of support from some of the best of her, including her compatriot Roger Federer. In the first round, the young Swiss faced a tough opponent in American Jessica Pegula.

Contrary to what many expected, Bencic struggled and earned a straight sets victory. The victory offered him a ray of hope, as her level was very high. Bencic's forehand in particular was wreaking havoc on the slow hard courts of Tokyo.

Her next big challenge was in Round 3, where she came from a set down to beat 2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova. As she continued her steady progress, Bencic finally reached the greatest stage of all. She was expecting an Olympic final, where she faced Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic.

The pair traded blow for blow, with Bencic hitting first and the southpaw counterattacking. In the deciding set, it was former world No. 4 Belinda Bencic who created the story. She won the gold medal with a 7-5 2-6 6-3 victory.

Roger Federer cheered her on, says Bencic Throughout the tournament, the Swiss star certainly received a lot of support. This perhaps elevated her game, producing some of her best tennis in her national colors.

"Even if he doesn’t show too much, he is one of the icons in fashion. His look is always elegant, simple but classic and elegant. I try to copy him a little bit and I think it is working." When asked to name his go-to outfit, Musetti said that he likes to keep it "simple" - long blue pants, a white T-shirt, sneakers and a jacket.

"I keep it simple. Blue pants, [usually] long pants," Musetti said. "Nike shoes [or] sneakers and a white t-shirt and one jacket. Really simple without so many collars, nice and easy."
