Raducanu needs to copy Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, says former top 10

The fresh US Open champion Emma Raducanu is now living the time of her life, but she needs to get inspiration from what the dominating trio of masculine tennis – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic – has done over the years to build up momentum and have a shot at becoming world number one, according to former top 10 WTA player and Amazon Prime pundit Daniela Hantuchova.

"The most important thing is not to get satisfied and to always look for ways to improve. That's where Roger, Rafa and Novak have been so incredible over the last 15 or 20 years. Even after everything they have achieved if you look at their tennis now and it's completely different to what it was in the beginning.

Rafa with the serve, Roger coming in more, Novak getting even more physical,” said Hantuchova.

Raducanu should target her next Slam and WTA world no.1 position

Hantuchova went on to underline the importance of Raducanu’s following practice sessions.

“It is important now that she digests this, has one more round of huge celebrations and then get back to the practice courts and think 'what do I have to do to get the next Slam and to get to No 1 in the world.'

For me there is no question where she should arrive," said Daniela Hantuchova. Yet, multiple Grand Slam winner Chris Evert’s advice is for Raducanu and Fernandez, the two revelations of the 2021 US Open edition, to take one step at a time and enjoy their youth while not falling into the trap of fame.

“We've seen too many bad scenarios. It's going to be all about the people they surround themselves with. Fame comes at you fast, and it's all new and exciting, and we don't know what's going to happen when they feel more pressure or when they lose a few matches.

We just don't know how they'll react to everything. Success can be deceiving and I hope they're prepared," said Evert.
