Four top-ten players confirmed for the next edition of the Acapulco Open, including the three main exponents of NextGen. The organization of the Mexican ATP 500 announced the name of the first four players who will be present in 2022, the edition where they will debut their new stadium, led by world number two, Russian Daniil Medvedev.
The three best exponents of the “NextGen” will say present at the 2022 Mexican Tennis Open, where along with Medvedev, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, world number three, the German Alexander Zverev (4) and the Italian Matteo Berrettini ( 7).
“We have a great relationship with Medvedev's agent and it was very easy. Two or three calls, we closed it after the US Open. The hospitality we give to the players has a lot to do with it, that has helped us a lot to come to Acapulco.
This opportunity at the GNP Seguros Arena puts us in a very important place for the players ”, commented tournament director Raúl Zurutuza. At the moment there are four members of the top-ten confirmed for the best tennis tournament in Latin America.
“The goal has always been for the tournament to keep growing. We are committed to having the best of tennis”, added Zurutuza. It should be noted that the AMT will open in 2022 the new headquarters “Arena GNP Seguros”, a complex under construction that “is on the right track”.
20-time Grand Slam champions, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been facing some injury issues for a couple of years. However, they both are pretty optimistic regarding their participation in the 2022 season. Considering their age, they are almost on the verge of returning from professional tennis.
Federer and Nadal ended their season
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are presently rehabilitating from their respective injuries. While Federer underwent knee surgery, Nadal dealt with his foot injury. Both the players withdrew the US Open 2021 because of ailments.
Recently at Tennis Channel, several reporters praised Federer and Nadal for guiding the new stars on the ATP tour. Lately, Tennis Channel discussed the greatness of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Both the players are currently recovering from their injuries and hoping to be back on the tour.
Moreover, both legends have been extensively helping the next generation on the tour. One reporter said, “We are all of course waiting to see when we will get Nadal and Federer back on the match. But with the time off they have had, we’ve gotten to see a little bit of a different side of Nadal and Federer”.
He further continued, “We saw Federer at a wedding the other day. We’ve seen Nadal spending more time at his academy working with young players like Carlos Alcaraz. So, we are getting to see some other sides of these guys”.
