Roger Federer on hiking memories: I learned how to make fire, grill sausages

20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer recently stared alongside Hollywood star Anne Hathaway for a Swiss Tourism ad. On Wednesday, Swiss tennis star Federer shared parts from what went down behind the scenes during the ad shoot.

During his conversation with Hathaway, Federer opened up about his love for hiking and how it's one of his best childhood memories. During hiking trips, Federer learned how to make fire and grill sausages. "I loved going hiking.

It's a childhood memory I have vividly. Early on, I was young and learned how to make fire, grill sausages and bring bread along... I loved it. And the summer in the mountains is terrific," Federer said. "You can forget about everything.

My dad used to say, 'When you walk, you talk.' I think it gave him a lot of time to spend with his children and talk to them. I used to love that."

Federer asked Hathaway to name celebrities she'd love to go on a trip

"I think Adele.

She can both speak to me and sing. She's so charming," Hathaway said. "Then, Sarah Silverman and Dolly Parton." Meanwhile, Federer has signed up to play Basel. In 2020, Federer underwent two knee surgeries.

Federer made his comeback last year but played just five tournaments before he was forced to undergo another surgery. Federer, who hasn't played since Wimbledon, is likely to make his return somewhere around September.

Federer is set to skip the whole clay season and he is also highly unlikely to play Wimbledon. Earlier this year, Federer was confirmed for the Laver Cup, which takes place in late September. Basel takes place in late October and it should be noted that there is still a chance Federer plays an ATP event before Basel.

Anyway, Federer signing up for Basel is great news for tennis fans, who are hoping to see Federer play a full 2023 season.
