Roger Federer posts message after his philanthropic visit to Malawi

Swiss tennis star Roger Federer enjoyed his visit to Malawi as he was glad that he was able to do something positive through his foundation. In Malawi, Federer gifted 3000 tablets to the Minister of Gender. Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, has done a lot of positive work in Africa through his foundation.

One of Federer's goals is to make education more accessible. By donating 3000 tablets, Federer has certainly helped a lot. "Thank you for the incredible hospitality and standing commitment. We look forward to continuing our growing partnership in early childhood education in Malawi," Federer wrote in a Facebook post.

Federer should return later this year

This week, it was announced Federer would play in Basel this year. Federer hasn't played a lot of tennis over the last two years. After the Australian Open in 2020, Federer underwent a knee surgery.

Federer was hoping the surgery would resolve his problems but the surgery didn't go that well and a few months later he underwent a second knee surgery. Federer didn't play any events in the rest of 2021 but managed to come back in 2021.

After playing in just five tournaments last season, Federer underwent a third surgery. Federer last played at Wimbledon, where he reached the quarterfinal before losing to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. Federer underwent a third knee surgery last August and since then he has been recovering.

Two weeks ago, Federer posted a gym workout picture and captioned it: "Rehab is rocking." That post was a strong indication that Federer was progressing well in his recovery. This week, Federer signed up to play Basel. Federer is an absolute legend in Basel as he is a record 10-time champion at the tournament.

Basel takes place in October and there is still a chance Federer returns sooner. Federer also signed up to play the Laver Cup in late September. Anway, it's great that Federer is progressing well and that he is planning to make a comeback at some point in 2022.
