James Blake grateful LeBron James chose basketball: Playing Big 3 was hard enough

Former American tennis star James Blake jokingly remarked he is happy LeBron James picked basketball over tennis as competing against the Big Three was enough of a big task. Blake, 42, turned pro in 1999 and retired from the game in 2013.

James, 37, was the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft and since then he has established himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Blake never won a Grand Slam and competing in the Big Three era was definitely one of the reasons why the former world No.

4 never reached a Grand Slam final. "I just heard the comment that LeBron James sometimes wishes he played tennis instead. As someone who already played in the Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic era, thank you for picking basketball," Blake tweeted.

The Big Three are widely considered as the three greatest players in tennis history.

Nadal now owns a record 22 Grand Slam titles, while Djokovic follows with 21 Grand Slams. Federer is now the third with his 20 Grand Slams. After Wimbledon, tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou said the GOAT race is definitely still on.

"The GOAT race is still on and it's more exciting than ever. First, let's start with the Majors. Novak won Wimbledon, which puts him up to 21 Major titles, one ahead of Roger's 20 and one behind Rafa's 22," Mouratoglou said in a video uploaded on his Instagram.

"But, when we break them down, Novak leads at the Australian Open with 9 titles, Rafa has dominated at the French Open with 14 titles and Federer still leads at Wimbledon with 8 titles along with the US Open with 5 titles." Nadal is expected to compete at the US Open, while Djokovic and Federer likely won't be at the tournament.

Djokovic can't enter the United States because of his vaccination status, while Federer is still recovering from a knee surgery.
