Guillermo Perez said Roger Federer is the GOAT. The Swiss legend has won 103 singles titles, including 20 Grand Slams, 28 Masters 1000s and 6 ATP Finals. Perez explained: "For me there is no discussion: Roger Federer is the best ever.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are two great champions who have made tennis history, but Roger is the GOAT. The Big 3 have gone through several generations, I count three or four. No one has ever shown such longevity in the past.
" Mats Wilander selected Federer vs. Rafael Nadal as the greatest rivalry of any era: "The two of them took our sport to another level. Without Nadal and Djokovic, Roger could have won 30 Grand Slams. They improved each other.
The rivalry between Roger and Rafa was super interesting because of the contrast of styles. I think Nadal enjoyed playing against Federer more than Roger enjoyed playing against Rafa Nadal. The Swiss has always suffered from the characteristics of the Majorcan."
Roger's come back
Roger Federer is unanimously recognized as one of the best players of all time. In addition to having a sensational career, the Swiss champion has contributed to increasing the popularity of tennis in every corner of the planet.
The former ATP number 1 has experienced a real ordeal over the past two seasons, having found himself dealing with a serious right knee injury. The 40-year-old from Basel played just 13 official matches in 2021 and was forced to undergo three operations in 18 months.
Roger played his last match at Wimbledon 2021, taking a clear defeat at the hands of Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals. Barring further unforeseen circumstances, the Maestro should return to the Laver Cup, which will be held at the O2 Arena in London from 23 to 25 September.
Federer is expected on the tennis courts also in 2023: the Swiss said he will play also the next season. Will 2023 be his last season as a professional?
