John Isner pays tribute to Roger Federer

John Isner acknowledged that Roger Federer was a great champion and underlined that the Swiss' impact on the game of tennis was absolutely tremendous. Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, is considered as the ultimate tennis icon.

Throughout his career, Federer was one of the most beloved and respected players among his colleagues and tennis fans. Federer transcended the game of tennis and will always be remembered as one of the greatest players in tennis history.

"Some of Fed’s numbers are laughably impossible to top (23 straight slam semifinals, for instance) but his impact on tennis far exceeds what he accomplished on court. Thanks for everything, RF (goat emoji)," Isner tweeted.

Federer reflects on his tennis journey

Federer, who is set to go down as one of the greatest players in tennis history, was once a ball kid dreaming of one day becoming a tennis pro.

As Federer is set to leave professional tennis, he reflected on his journey to becoming a tennis player and achieving his goals. "When my love of tennis started, I was a ball kid in my hometown of Basel. I used to watch the players with a sense of wonder.

They were like giants to me and I began to dream. My dreams led me to work harder and I started to believe in myself. Some success brought me confidence and I was on my way to the most amazing journey that has led to this day.

So, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, to everyone around the world who has helped make the dreams of a young Swiss ball kid come true. Finally, to the game of tennis: I love you and will never leave you”.

The Laver Cup is set to take place next weekend in London. Tennis fans will have one final chance to see Federer in action.
