Daniil Medvedev speaks extremely highly of Roger Federer

Daniil Medvedev has only words of praise for Roger Federer as he feels the Swiss is a great champion on the court and a very nice and genuine person off the court. Medvedev, 26, played Federer three times. Medvedev and Federer clashed for the first time at the 2018 Shanghai Masters, when the Swiss claimed a 6-4 4-6 6-4 victory over the Russian.

Federer also defeated Medvedev in Basel (2018) and the Miami Masters (2019). "I remember when we first played at 2018 Shanghai. Back then, it was one of the greatest feelings of my life. I don't know him that well, but from all accounts, he's the same on TV & in the locker room.

All tennis lovers wanted him to play forever," Medvedev told L'Equipe, per Bastien Fachan.

Medvedev showed respect for Federer's grass game

During this year's grass season, Medvedev showed respect to Federer's grass game by including him among one of the best grass-court players.

Federer, 41, is a record eight-time Wimbledon champion. Novak Djokovic, who has seven Wimbledon titles, also made Medvedev's list. Medvedev listed Federer and Djokovic as the two best grass players from his generation.

"Novak is always the favourite. He has won the last three Wimbledons that have been played. He plays very well on grass. If we talk about the best players in history on grass, I would place him at the top, although I have not seen Borg or Sampras play.

From my generation, Federer and Djokovic are the best. Of course, Nadal can win any tournament he plays in and Berrettini is playing at a high level. Speaking of favourites, Djokovic, Berrettini and Nadal," Medvedev said this summer.

Meanwhile, Medvedev is slowly preparing for the indoor swing after failing to defend his US Open title. Medvedev, who has plummeted to the fourth place after not defending his US Open points, will be hoping to do well during the indoor swing and finish his season on a high note.
