'Roger Federer's reaction was no longer the same as before', says star

Former world number 7 Mardy Fish said he was blessed to have the opportunity to play in the era of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The 40-year-old Fish retired from the game in 2015. During his career, Fish faced Federer nine times.

In those nine meetings, Fish defeated Federer only once. "It was a blessing to play in the Fed/Nadal/Djok era. A couple of wins, tons of losses, I enjoyed every minute on the court with you my friend. See you at the retreat (goat emoji)," Fish tweeted.

When he first faced Federer at Wimbledon 2003, Fish thought he had a favorable draw. Federer ended up beating Fish 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. "What are your favorite @rogerfederer moments? I'm going to start. 2003 Wimbledon, third round, I play this guy Federer.

I called a friend after winning the second round and said, 'I think I have a great draw now. I don't think this guy is that good. He crushed me and won the tournament," Fish said in another tweet. Five years after his first meeting with Federer, Fish finally got his first win over the Swiss.

At the 2008 Indian Wells Masters, Fish defeated Federer to reach the final of the tournament. Meanwhile, Fish will sit out this week's Davis Cup group stage. Fish, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has been advised not to participate in this week's Davis Cup.

After testing positive for COVID-19, Fish contacted Bob Bryan and asked him to act as acting captain. "Mardy said run it however you want, make whatever decisions you want, and I was here if you wanted to bounce ideas off each other," Bryan said.

King Roger announced his retirement

Uzbek tennis player Denis Istomin recognized in words collected by GoTennis the importance that Roger Federer has had in the world of tennis: "Roger had a very long career and great moments.

He is one of the best players of all time. I want to thank him for brought so many sponsors to this sport. Tennis has become very popular because of people like him. I'm proud to have played with him around the same time. I've been lucky enough to play many matches against him (8-0 record in against) and each one of them has been very memorable for me", said Istomin who acknowledged that he knew that Federer's end was very close: "I played against him last year at Roland Garros.

I felt that he was at the end of his career I noticed that his reaction was no longer the same as before. Still, he played very well for his age."
