The Swiss Indoors Basel organizers are still waiting to hear whether Roger Federer will accept to have a special ceremony during this year's tournament edition.
Federer, a Swiss tennis legend, retired from professional tennis in late September at the Laver Cup.

Earlier this year, Federer signed up to compete at the Laver Cup and Basel. Unfortunately, Federer's knee didn't progress well enough and he was forced to retire after the Laver Cup. Even though Federer won't be competing in Basel this year, he could still get a proper farewell at his home tournament.
Federer is a true icon in Basel
Federer, who debuted at the Swiss Indoors Basel in 1998, is a record 10-time Basel champion. In Basel, Federer made 15 finals and won 10 titles. In each of his past five Basel appearances, Federer went all the way.
Federer last played at the Swiss Indoors Basel in 2019, when he defeated Alex de Minaur in the final. Meanwhile, Federer said he was positively surprised after realizing that many people supported him because they liked his character and personality.
"It's been overwhelming to be quite honest, how many nice things have been written about me, a lot of them about my personality and about me as a person. Less almost as me as the tennis player, about my forehand or whatever you want to call it.
That's been a wonderful surprise to me that a lot of people looked or supported me because of maybe my character. That was a bit of an unexpected twist to the story. I thought they were gonna talk about his achievements, his accomplishments, what he meant to the game, and that's it.
But it was much more than that. It totally over-exceeded my expectations," Federer said in a video for the ATP Tour. It remains to be seen if Federer will be in Basel this year.
