Tennis icon Roger Federer was in New York on Sunday as he watched the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics game from Barclays Center. Federer, who recently retired from pro tennis, had a chance to see some of the best basketball players in the world in live action as the Nets and Celtics are one of the best teams in the NBA.

When Federer was introduced on the jumbotron, the Brooklyn crowd gave him a standing ovation and a very warm welcome.

In the end, the Celtics - who are led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown - defeated the Nets 103-92.

Federer is enjoying his retirement days

In late September, Federer officially put an end to his astonishing tennis career. Since retiring, Federer has been spending time with his family but also traveling to some countries.

Last month, Federer was in Japan for an event hosted by Uniqlo. After Japan, Federer traveled to the United States as this past weekend he was in New York. While in Japan, Federer admitted he was still a little scared to do sports that include physical activity.

In the same interview, Federer revealed he would like to take his family for a trip around Africa. “I am still a little bit scared [when it comes other sports] right after retirement as my knee has been a little bit so-so and that [skiing] has to wait.

As time goes by I will be able to do more trips and we are always planning our vacations and I want them to be really fun. They can become a little bit more creative. I would love to take my kids to Africa whereas before vacations always had to be relaxing because my life on the road was so busy, but now our vacations can be a bit more adventurous," Federer revealed.
