Stefanos Tsitsipas suggests he needs to learn from Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic's ways of managing energy during an entire Grand Slam tournament. Tsitsipas, 25, has been a top player for several years now but he hasn't yet accomplished his goal of becoming a Grand Slam champion.

Tsitsipas, ranked at No 7 in the world, has been to two Grand Slam finals so far in his career. After blowing a two-set lead to Novak Djokovic in the 2021 French Open final, Tsitsipas was also beaten by the Serb in his second Grand Slam final at this year's US Open.

“Win a Grand Slam? I was close to succeeding in this challenge. I had my chances. Perhaps what I lacked was energy. I use way too much on a court. If you look at other champions like Djokovic, Federer and even Nadal, they know better how to manage all the effort that a Grand Slam requires.

The only time in my career when I was smart enough to handle all of this well was at the 2019 Masters and I won it. It takes a long time to master this management. But I’m still on the right track. I haven’t given up yet," Tsitsipas said, via The Tennis Letter.

Tsitsipas hasn't done well in the last few Grand Slams

After ending on the losing side in the Australian Open final, Tsitsipas made the French Open quarterfinal in his next Grand Slam tournament.

At the French Open, Tsitsipas dropped just one set en route to reaching the quarterfinal but then suffered a brutal 6-2 6-1 7-6 (5) loss to Carlos Alcaraz. In his next Grand Slam tournament, Tsitsipas made the Wimbledon round-of-16 before picking up a surprise defeat to Christopher Eubanks.

Tsitsipas' 2023 Grand Slam season finished in a very disappointing way after the Greek was stunned by Dominic Stricker in the US Open second round. It remains to be seen if Tsitsipas can accomplish his Grand Slam dreams in 2024.
